Hi all, my question does not relate to any video card problem. My question is what is the latest revision on the Asus p4c800 deluxe motherboard? Iam thinking of buying one. Thanks

Well I got 8x after getting that intel chipset utility, the only prob left is a sound conflict. In my games ie Nascar 4 or Nascar 2003 I only get full sound in c**kpit mode, change the view and the sounds drop right out. Very strange but I'll get it. TY ppl

go the asus site pick your mb type mine is the p4p800 dx and chose all downloads not just drivers .
the chipset drivers are 865 or 875 depends on your mb, they are there .
this will activate the 8x agp.

I have a similar problem with my Asus P4P800 and 9700Pro. It wont stay on 4 or 8x in the "smartgart". I saw Matts answer but never heard of Cat SUite. My drivers for the card, bios for board are all up to date. If you catch this, can ya explain that part, the other two steps I'm quite familiar with. TY
Hi Guys

I had a similar problem with my ASUS P4C800 deluxe and a Redeon 9800 pro ( It wouldnt go into 8x )
And basically i fixed it by doing this

1. Upgrade your Cat SUite to the latest
2. Reflash your BIOS to the latest version you can get this from the ASUS website
3. And install Intel Chipset Utility whih you can also get from ASUS website if not just do a search for the latest version.

Mine works now and i was ready for chucking it through the bloody window!!!

Give it a try id love to see if it works on other peoples machines also and with 9700

Cheers
Go to Asus' website and download the latest AGP drivers for your motherboard. That may well fix it, I had the same exact problem (with the same exact mobo) when I installed my 9800 Pro. Once I installed the new AGP driver SMARTGART showed it running at 8x.

By the way, doesn't page 1 of your installation guide mention to do this? Mine did, stupid of me to assume mine had already been updated.
You don't need a new card...I have a 9200SE PCI version for God's sake and can run nearly any game at 1600x1200 with the details on high or medium....And, if you di go and get a GeForce4 line, get the 4600, its alot better than the 4800SE...Good luck!!!

besides how to u tell the difference as of revision, i had sent in my Radeon 9700 Pro, ATI found it defective so they sent me a new one but, still cant run AGP 8X, My Mobo is Asus P4S8X SIS 648 POS chipset. Do U know what dont hear anything about abit boards on here, good or bad, maybe they are the better board maker considering ASUS has been way too busy with releasing new boards and not Fixing the problems of the older ones by like making revisions and such.

According to my P4P800 manual, Asus says that all -00 revs of 9500 and 9700 cards arent supposed to work properly (though they dont quite put it like this in the manual). I suppose the same goes for P4C800. Asus sidestep the issue by saying use the -30 versions for better performance and stability when they actually mean that -00 models wont work at 8x. I'm trying to get my 9600Pro working in OpenGL right now and have previously battled with (and returned to the shop), a 9500 '-00' revision because of this.
