Upgrading laptop harddrive

need to upgrade my old Fujitsu 656TX Laptop harddrive from a 2.1 GB to a larger drive such as 10GB. I am running WIN 98SE and to do anything other than wordprocessing, 2GB is just not enough storage.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems when upgrading their older laptop's harddrive? My old 2 GB 2.5" hardrive is approx. 12.7mm and most of the newer harddrives are 9.5mm and 12.5mm. Also I have heard that some of the older harddrives have 3 holes/screws for attaching the cady/steep plate vs. 4 holes/screws on newer ones. In addition, will there be a problem with the connector from the old drive vs the newer drive. I have contacted Fujitsu tech support and they pretty much have told me good luck upgrading over the 2.1 GB harddrive.

Also does anyone no if I will have any heating problems going from the olddrive to the newer one? I have also read that some older notebooks are limited as to accessing harddrives with a larger capacity over 8GB.

I guess I am "fishing" for some help and would greatly appreciate any ideas before I go out and buy a new harddrive. Thanks.
