Hello.
I have a TravelMate 803LCi for the last 14 months and my unit has a big problem. The plastics are very fragile!
I don't know if something like this happened with you, but my first unit (because this is the second, replaced by ACER) with one month had the LCD front cover broken on the left bottom corner. My actual unit has the same on left bottom corner, as well in the left top corner, and also in the plastic surrounding the keyboard (between the touchpad and the plastic cover of the leds. I take good care of it, really! Does anyone know where i can buy this plastics? And the new plastics are more strong?? (i noticed that the new TM8000 has a some kind different material).
Thanks.

To get the keyboard off, and open up the machine for real, you need to pull off the removable tab which surrounds the power and programmable buttons. It's the plastic piece which says Travelmate 800 on it. Be careful, it's fairly easy to damage.

if you are still reading the forum, I have an electronic copy of the service manual(NOT the worthless user manual). email me if you want it.

I've got an Acer Travelmate 803lci, and I can't figure out how to open it. I've removed all the screws on the bottom, and the little plastic IR clip from the front, but there is something holding it down in the center close to the hinge. I can't figure out how to remove the keyboard, or anything else on the top surface.

Any ideas?
