There's no way around it you're going to need a new mobo. What CPU are you running? Sound like you got one of those crappy systems at Best Buy. My friend has one. I found out he didn't have an AGP port when he was going to buy my old GF2. The best thing to do is get a cheap mobo for around $40 (I'm assuming your running a Celeron or an old P4.) Then get a 128MB Radeon 9600 Pro for around $70. Also if you're running 256MB Ram, pick up a another stick for around $40. It's not all that much, even if your working at the local grocery store 1 paycheck should cover it.

I think i have a very simple - slightly cost effective solution to satisfy all your FFXI needs!!!!

buy a playstation.

how much did you pay for it?

BTW, my GF4 MX440 was just fine untill i retired it for my 9500 pro... but now my 32MB ATI Radeon 9000 mobility beats it in 3dmark (5686 vs 5532) lol strangly though, i can only play ut2004 at 800x600 where i culd play 2003 at 1186x1024 just fine with the MX

If you payed more than $40 USD for the MX-440 then you were ripped off. Sorry to say it, but without an AGP slot theres nothing you can do. If you want to get a video card without ditching your motherboard get a PCI based card, remember though, PCI based video cards are infinitley inferior to AGP based ones. Your basically better off getting a new mobo and a good AGP video card.

FFXI and a geforce2 mx400...LOL...even if you had an AGP slot your game would look like crap! I wouln't even try to play it on anything under a Geforce4 4200Ti and would recomend a 5700ultra! i have a friend with a fx5200 and it looks ok and runs ok, but lags alittle! Also it runs best with the newer gen. cards because they support DX9!

I would sell your newly aquired vidcard and shell out the cash for a new mobo and vidcard!

What are your system spec's? My guess is your at or below the required min for this game which is not good this game eats up RAM, 512MB would be the min i would want to run it!

Sounds like your going to have to upgrade further than you thought! But on the bright side you can build a good gamer for around 700usd and use your old monitor and keyboard/mouse!

I hate that we gamers have to upgrade our systems just to play a new game!

Such is life, play hard or go Home!
