With all laptops/notebooks it is advisable before freaking out to always check/reseat your cpu, mem, keyboard ect when having probs....why....well they get a little jogged around.

This was a common problem with the Mitac laptops. Remove the processor and put it back and lock it in place. In other words, re-seat the processor. That should make it post.

HI!
I'm italian and my English is not very fluently......
What is the headsik???

So, you are a lucky boy because your pc was bootted up.... I've the same model taken from a friend...

If the led lighted up the pc is switched on!
Mine lighted the cd-rom led (the first left) about 2-3 times and after power on!

The pc switched off because if the fan never function the cpu is hottest and to save the life of him the pc shutting down himself.

I've a problem me too: the fan jack (the three connection cable) isn't powered and I never know why!
My lcd display the BIOS after the boot sequence...but a few pixel leftmoved, about 20pixel....

Any idea??
MTC(mitac) 7521 laptop won't boot

Friend gave me a broken laptop. Not quite sure what happened to it, but the thing wouldn't turn on at all(no lights no beeps). I tested the power adapter on another laptop and it works fine. So I take it apart last night for inspection, couldn't spot anyting out of place. Then I started removing some of the components ie. memory, hd, cdrom, battery. After a couple of hours of messing around with it, I came to the conclusion that the mobo was dead.

To make a long story short, upon putting the laptop back together the heatsink accidentally made contact with the power module(with power adapter plugged in), sparks flew and the leds started lighting up. When I power on the laptop, the leds turn on, the lcd sorta blinks but stays black, and I hear the hard drive spinning. But that's about it, fan doesn't turn on, motherboard doesn't beep, and the dvd-rom doesn't work either. I leave the laptop on and after 10-15 mins it shuts down on its own(my guess is it's going into hibernation or standby). I turn the laptop on and off but it goes through the same process everytime. Anyone have a clue what's going on? Thanks in advance.

Kate

ps. this is a half ass drawing of the power module I mentioned http://img33.photobucket.com/albums/v101/haru908/crappylaptop.jpg
