I have got the same problem. I've got Elitegroup K7S5A, Duron 1GHz and I've bought GeForce 4 MX 440SE. The first card I had didn't work at all so I gave it back and they sent me a new one but after some time (2 weeks) my system was hanging up almost every 3min. I've also sent this card back. Now I've got XFX GeForce4 MX440-SE and the problem is back. I have no idea what to do... for now, I'm using my old I740

I've had the same kind of problem with my Promise controller card, except I have a Sapphire Radeon 9000 Pro. I tried moving the controller to different slots, bios changes, and flashing the mobo bios. Nothing has worked. I have a Tyan Slot-1 mobo that I have it installed in. I moved the Promise and the Radeon to my other computer, a Soyo SuperSocket-7 mobo and it worked fine. Don't know who's at fault.

For starters i have:

Athlon XP 1800+
ECS K7S5A MB
Enlight Corp 300w AMD and P4 Certified
2 128 SDram
NEC CD-RW 24x10x30x
LiteOn DVD 16x
Quantum Fireball 8GB
Western Digital 800jb 80GB
Western Digital 1200jb 120GB (not installed because of my problem)
Generic 56K modem
ATI TV Wonder Value Edition
Soundblaster Live! Value
Promise Ultra TX2 ATA100 controller card (not installed because of my problem)

Windows XP Pro
Latest ECS Bios
Latest Nvidia Bios
Latest drivers on all part.
(i just downloaded everything at this date)

now for my problem would be, everytime i install the ATA controller card
with my GF4 card, my computer refuse to boot up. it makes 6-8 beeps, meaning the motherboard couldn't detect my AGP card. i double checked, make sure i properly secured the cards and boot up again. It still makes the beeps. i removed the controller card and the computer booted up fine. i replaced the GF4 card with a PCI Matrox Mystique, installed the controller card and booted fine.

i was wondering if it is a power supply problem, so i disconnected everything. the HDs, optical drives, soundcard, modem, tv tuner.
all was left was the GF4 card and the ATA100 controllercard, still refuse to boot.

maybe its the drivers. i downloaded the newest AGP drivers from ECS website, the newest ATA100 controllercard from promise. still no luck

maybe its the bios. i flashed my MB bios, the 020809L.rom bios i think. i flashed my GF4 card bios which can be found anywhere. still no luck!!!!!

so i've decided it may be my GF4 card maybe incompatible with the Promise Ultra100TX2 so in the future, i decided to buy a better vid card.
i haven't tried any AGP cards yet other than mine so i will try that in the future. I've read most of the replies in this forum and i say that this K7S5A has alot of problem issues. maybe it wasn't a good idea getting this type of MB.
