4.8 was done and just waiting for MS certification. That is why the hotfix for D3 is being labled as Cat4.9 beta. It is actually part of the on going Cat4.9 Beta. A whole bunch of people were having really bad corruption issues with Doom 3 and ATI R350, 360 and 420 cards. Something about the OpenGL drivers.
Well, sounds like this one is just another game, or everyone was insanely hyped about the game, and said it sucked because it was the same as FarCry?hmm...
I still got to play it, or the demo.
When was the demo coming out anyway?

WOAH!
I just noticed a playboy ad at the top of the page... WTF SANDER!?

One quick comment on Doom3 and HL2 and the graphics:
HL2 will most likely have much better texturing, but it wont have all the fancy bumpmapping and other stuff that make doom3 look good. HL2 wil also probably have much more geometric detail than Doom3, but again, the bumpmapping in Doom3 mostly make up for this.

I grabbed the game, and am still undecided about wether or not I like it.
The fact that mosters just constantly appear and give you no time to react in tiny little halls and such kind of p**s me off. The spider guys are really bad about that, and I end up wasting tons of ammo on them!

I am much more inclined to the HL style of gameplay; shoot a couple of people, firgure some sort of puzzle out, shoot some more people, get a little taste of plot, etc.
