With a Athlon XP 2000+ at 1.6666GHZ running 4X AGP (1 intake fan F; 1 exhaust R), this card will freez the game after 30 min. But if I were to remove the side pannel, It will take up to 2 hours or longer until freez.<br /> <br /> This year I bought P4 3.0HT, with ECS mobo AGP 8X, I thought it might be the cooling problem of the video card, so i bought Cooler Master Cool vivia heatsink with heatpipe, and used Arctic Silver 5 for all the pieces. Then a new case that have intake fans (1 from top, 1 from side, 2 from front), Then I removed the 3.5&quot; bay cover allow more air flow. In the rear I got thermal take's turbine fan that came with the 480W dual fan butterfly PSU. Then I added 1 60mmX60mmX25mm fan and a 80mm fan together blowing air to the bottom part of the ATI 9700's heatsink while the fan come with the heatsink is blowing at the top. [i counted, I got 12 fans total in my pc 20 some LEDs then 2 cold cathode, 1 more fan for northbridge, 1 for cpu. Noisy as F****]<br /> <br /> Here's the sad part, ATI radeon 9700 pro will still freeze for games at 8X agp with fast write on with ati driver. (after 5 minutes). But if use 4X AGP with fast write off, it will never freeze. The temp of the heat sink is 32C idol, 40.2C maxon Load. I tried omega drivers too, but the only difference is that omega drivers will allow you to over clock and adjust voltage at your own risk, while ATI's driver wount allow you to do that.<br /> <br /> After all this thing is a beast, I got 36,000 on aqua mark 3 at 4X FWoff. then 37, 660 at 8X. Not much a big difference. These all should guarantee a constant airflow and I never had problems with overheating.<br /> <br /> So my conclusion:<br /> <br /> It must be the stinking cooler on the card. I never had problems before with other games but I didn't play many 3D games anyway so I guess that AoM - Titans is just using some more 3D features then AoM was and that this causes the card to overheat.<br /> First thought of mine was that it is the PSU because I saw so many posts about it here. But if it was the PSU how could the system be stable with an opened case and all stuff plugged in.<br /> <br /> I'll come back here and tell you if the replacement of the GPU cooler did solve the problem.<br /> <br /> Edit Juli 21, 2004:<br /> <br /> So I went to buy a new PSU (Antec True Power 550W) and installed a new GPU Cooler. I guess that the cooler does a fine job, at least its much more quiet then the old one. But the Antec PSU didn't even start with the 8RDA3+. Epox tech support told me that the PSU has to send a Power Good signal in between 0-50 ms or else the Mobo doesn't start. I went through a bunch of them and found the newer drivers to be problems (for me, anyway) and the older drivers caused texture problems.
