In fact, IDE RAID is quite possible, and has been for some time. There are a couple companies that make IDE RAID products, the most recognizable of which is Promise Technology. (see &lt;a class=&quot;ext&quot; href=&quot;/action/r/http://www.promise.com&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;http://www.promise.com&lt;/a&gt; ).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The server in question uses a Promse IDE RAID controller.&lt;br /&gt;

        <description>In the article youm mention being able to unplug one of the ide drives, when the system is still running. How is that possible, when your not using SCSI/firewire/(SATA??)?&lt;br /&gt;

Ive always been lead to believe that this simply isnt possible, and would damage the circitry in some way, since its not designed for a live powered disconnect? </description>
