even with online activation, pirates still get around it....i've beaten half life 2, currently running back through/messing around in it...did i buy it....well....

anti-pirating people think they always the best and uncrackable solution and yet a few days after hl2 comes out....i am playing, its a great idea i applaud valve for moving the gaming world forward in terms of stopping the pirating, there probally isnt nearly as many pirates who got this game working WITHOUT activating or going through steam like everyone else who "bought" thier copy. The only downside to pirating is a lot of games have online content that you cant access unless you have a valid serial, and i love playing games online (diablo 2, dungeon siege, unreal tournament) but half life series i never got into playing online, all i wanted with hl2 was the single player experience/storyline and having gotten that out of the game, it now sits on my shelf.

50$ is a lot of money to play and beat a game in 2 days, the online thing hardly makes up for it for me, that will get boring eventually too...its no counterstrike...and counterstrike is free.

steam: you use accounts...if your account has it registered you can play it on any com anytime...if u change the system it still works....and if it doent u can e-mail them and theyll fix it...they did for me....

as for win-xp the home edition just does that cuz the software defnition of single-user is still flawed.....

I changed my RAM one time and I had to re-register, but you can just ring up if you cant get on the net, which is the fundamental flaw with steam as you cant, and I think its wrong to just assume everyone has a net connection.

I have to say that the online registration idea is perfect and that a call up activation would be bad....
this way its IMPOSSIBLE to get a pirated game and activate it unless u activated it before the real copy...that'll be very rare except with an evil reseller...

if companies are greedy theives that charge too much for games then so be it....people shouldnt buy it unless they agree wiht the price...were not FORCED to buy the bloody game are we?

Price too high and product not good enuf? thats not aproblem....AMD proved that

Any hippies who disagree with me can just keep on usin their illegal filesharing and pirated software....if it wasnt worth the money then so many ppl wouldnt buy it. Stuff like STEAM the new Morpheus and iTunes are the way to go...

My first experience with the whole Windows XP way of doing things happened about a year ago when I installed it on one of my machines, the whole process went very smoothly and I've done several machines with Win XP since then with good results. I really like the opperating system I think it runs great but what really bothers me about the Win XP key stuff is that what if I change a whole bunch of my hardware one day, will the system refuse to do anything? I certainly hope not! I'm worried it'll need to use an internet connection and for some reason I won't have one working at that particular time and I'll be stuck, what's the real story on moving Win XP over to a new machine, changing the motherboard, processor, video card etc, will it cause me any problems in the future??

...since average boxed product is actually and currently installed 3 times (1.2 times in USA, 3 times in Europe, 100 times in Asia).

If publishers continue charging at the same level, they will, still more than today, be perceived as greedy thieves; if they lessen to a more honest price, the public will recognize it and act accordingly.
