I am so mad...I should have done my research....I just bought a Radeon 9800 PRO. I spent a good week trying to convince my wife to let me get one! I did pay $125 for it though...I guess i can't complain that much...Oh well...After I get my Athlon 2600 (266 FSB) and some ram...maybe i'll have a computer half as powerful as the rest of you guys! Time to build another computer I guess...Have to think up a good one to sneak past the boss!

P.S. I have a question: This may sound stupid, but what is the difference between GeForce 6600 GT 128MB, and GeForce 6600 GT OC 128MB? I see this listen on http://www.pricewatch.com under video cards. Just wondering, since tax returns are comming soon.

I own a brand new XFX 6600gt agp, and boy do I love it, it was an upgrade from a gexcube 9600xt, and unlike most 6600gt agp cards the xfx comes clocked at the PCI-e speed rather than the default 500/900 it comes at 500/1000, and it was dirt cheap for a retail bought card $320 (australian, $241 us) plus the kewl little blue dog guy seals the deal with me lol. i have oc'd it too the speeds you can see below and i couldnt be happier with this card, I am an nvidia man and always have been, and i can now say we can claim this price catagory

Curtis,

For being a $200 card, it'll last long enough. It'll sure as hell last longer than the currently-evenly-price 9800 Pro and the more expensive 9800 variant, the 9800XT. The 6600GT is a truly amazing card, as you can see from the benchmarks, and will definitely hold up for a very, very long time. Almost as long as the 6800nu, until manufacturers start saturating our pixel-pipelines. I don't think that will happen for another 2 years. I'm talking to the point of where something will barely run on a 6800GT. Then, and pretty much ONLY then, will the highly advanced, yet budget priced, 6600GT begin to show it's age. Like I said, it's a 2 year card; invest now.

I doubt they will release a 6600GT in 256-bit, because that would be too much of a competitor with the 6800GT. Yes, the 6800GT, not the non-ultra. And they won't release a 6600GT w/ 256mb, because that would be too much of a competitor for the 6800nu. The extra memory will enable it to be as fast as a 6800nu at higher resolutions.

Well to be frank guys i wasn't expecting 6600GT AGP version to perform that well....however...128-bit interface is kinda s**tty..but...if results says 6600GT = good...then prolly i would say the same.

Good overall midbudget card.

Hay..i still love my 9800pro....almost 1 1/2 years old and is a strong competitor for 6600GT....hehehe...atlast Nvidia beated ATI in mid-budget section...phew...may be R5xx would have better answer for it?
well if you intend to play HL2, the 6600 GT will be fine, according to the benchmark results on Anandtech, it is about as fast as the 6800 on a res of 1024 * 768

well with seeing this excellent report, I might have to weigh out my Performance vs Cost.

Ive been planning on snaging a Gigabyte 6800GT for ~$400 something off newegg. I might have to look into settling for a 6600 at 1/2 the price.... decisions decisions.

Though, I do imagine I would be better off getting the 6800GT if I do not plan on Building a new PC that supports PCI-E anytime soon. Concidering I just built my last one. Oh well, Im happy with the performance of my PC.
