Hi Guys.

i am running a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ too on a ASUS A8V-VM SE motherboard and recently upgraded to a 3500+ from a 3200+ but since i have upgraded the CPU my PC seems too be freezing and then just staying frozen forever near-enough. also noticed another problem, in the device manager it still says its a 3200+ not a 3500+ but on the welcome center and the system specs says its a 3500+. anybody know whats going on. I am using the stock fan and heatsink that came with my PC and the program SpeedFan is reading it at 44C when running just this Firefox window and SpeedFan

thanks.
I too had issues with high temps I was running at 70-80 C while gaming so took the machine back to the shop and they changed the heat sink and fan and added a case fan and the temps dropped heaps.

To all you guys that have raved about Cool n Quiet, I have to say it rocks I just installed it and my temps dropped even more from 45 C down to 25 C at idle and 50-60 C to 40 C while gaming.

Thanx for the install tips it really helped.

Cheers Jeff

I run seti@home at the same time I do everything else. Examples: winamp, email, downloads, browsing, and what not. Doing all of this at same time with Cool and Quiet running does not take my CPU temp above 50-53 degrees celsius. Seti@home is a CPU intensive program and I have set to run at all times. I do of course shut it off if I am going to play a graphical intensive game. My system config is :
K8N Neo Platinum Motherboard
AMD 64 3400+ w/ Thermaltake Silent Boost K8 CPU Cooler
512 RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
Two fans on the case
450 watt power supply

ONLY time my CPU temp went above 53 is when I used Prime95 for 6 hours and 37 minutes to do a torture test on my system.

That water system on that website looks nice.

As long as you placed the Thermal Past onto your CPU properly & that you "DO NOT" have your PC's side case door open, then you should be running with good temps.

CPU's do get hot, so make sure your fans are clean of dust or just go for the Water Cooling. And don't worry about any leaks, just take your time & have the water system run for at least 12 hrs before U turn on your system.

I had one leak while I was playing DOOM 3 for a few hours. Nothing happened, though my MOBO was wet in some spot's along with my 9700 Pro I had back then, nothing happened. I fixed the leak, dried up everything & away I went again.

Water Cooling is well worth the investment.
Well ive been wondering about Water cooling for a while now, but is it really safe, I mean think about it water right next to your precious components. One thing that looks like a deal is this
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=HFT-A1604
its from a british site, but I wondered if you guys could have a look and tell me if its worth it or not.
On the subject of CnQ I couldnt get it to work for a while, but in a recent issue of Micro Mart a reader uestion was answered on the very subject. The answer he gave was to install the "RightMark CPU clock utillity" from
http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml
On this you set up your maximum and minimum voltages and multipliers and you can mess with a few other bits aswell. you can get the speed down to 800MHz on a 3200+. This also works on Intels and the K7s.
How are you guys getting these temperatures, because I changed my fans to supposedly better ones and at idle without CnQ I got 47 degrees with it I get 44degrees and an under load temp of just under 50 degrees (alltemperatures according to speedfan) Is this just speedfan miseading the values? The exhaust air isnt that hot, its warm, but not hot. I have one exhaust fan, but i have another fan that I will fit soon, is t better to have it in the front or as a second exhaust fan?
I did some MAJOR research & found that there will be many different varieties of CPU's coming out soon. Some will be based on the "San Diego Core" & others with the "Venice Core"

The only difference between these two cores is the L2 cache. That is it.

Here is what I found out & in USA Prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

San Diego Core: Code "BN"
WTF is AMD doing here ?? Coming out with 512k & 1MB CPU's ?? Well, they obviously know what they are doing & for the Price, the 3500+ San Diego is the best due to its OC'ing potential & 1MB L2 cache.

Sweet CPU's aren’t they
I think it's that monster I built on top of my case budd;)

Hey PCGEEK I managed to OC to 2.68GHz with no problems, but my RAM is down to 488 instead of 500. Not too much difference though in bandwidth, but I managed to get 76,201 in Aquamark 3 instead of the original 75,000 before.

My freaking Temps are still low.

My Graphic's Card Core is @ 28C & my CPU now is at 24C, with no load & running all night.
