That was a problem I had too - a sticker that was over the specifications. But now, with DVD cases you need a magnifying glass to read the specs anyway, and because of those damn dvd cases we now mostly get the manual on a pdf that we have to print ourselves, or a 12 page manual when it should be a 40 page one. Games still £35/$50 though!

Of course, elsewhere on this site I have said this is one or two of the 1000 cuts that will be the death of the PC gaming industry.
I agree with you. I've had teh same problem myself. I bought an original copy fo Age of Empires 1 Gold and then got AOE2 Conquerors expansion. However at the time I thought that they would all work. Unfortunately the large square label was obstructing the notice saying "You must have Age of Empires 2 to run this game". So after I opened it and tried to install to no avail I tried to take it back to PC World, but they just looked at my sceptically as I was trying to explain to them about what happened.

I have nearly 300 games, all original. About 50 were got first as pirates and then originals purchased. About 20 were pirates and played for 10 minutes before I saw they were crap and thrown away. I don't care about those 70 pirated games or who or what thinks that's bad. I do know that everytime I genuinely wanted to change a piece of PC software in a retail store I was questioned and treated like a criminal. That with every CD-Key that was too small to read and had to be entered 10 times before getting it right and for every CD protection that stopped the disk working on my CD drive and now with a system like Steam, the computer game industry, from publisher to retailer treats me/all PC gamers like a criminal. So if I pirate the odd game so I am not left with a crap game that if I bought and then took back I would be laughed at - at the very least; I do not give a toss.

I mean, how come you can rent video's, you can rent console games, you can rent audio cd's and console games from the library (at least here in the UK), but never never never can you rent a PC game to try it out? Because they think we're ALL pirates. Scientifically it has been proved that if you are treated like a criminal often enough you will probably become one. That test where they put kids in a make believe prison and said half would be wardens and half prisoners and in 6 weeks the wardens became vicious and the prisoners obedient. Well, if I get signals all the time that i'm a pirate, why would I feel that bad if I became one occasionally?

This goes for downloading music, etc too. Because try being a 15 year old exchanging an audio CD at an average store. My Nephew could tell you about that.....
