I Agree with Sander... I recently repaired a Sony laptop for a gentleman by mame of Murry Shohat.. Executive Director of ELC or www.embedded_linlux.org Fantastic people and excellent to talk and deal with. Why do you think these types of individuals are here? They are working for a true usre friendly totally fre OS that would accomidate everyone. End of the Micro-crap end-user issues, COpyrite infringement for your neighbor listening to you favorite music CD? The list can continue and although I realize people need to get paid? Why is it Micro's the only one regulated to date?.. Padded wallets I'd say.. Just my opinion.

I look at it differently, these publishers are in business to make a profit, hence the people that work for them, for example the programmers, just receive a paycheck for the work they've done. So in the end you're not doing anything that will hurt the people that put in the long hours, just the people that try to sell their work for a profit. There's thousands of programmers that allow you to use their programs for free, the majoirty of them in the open source community, often asking for a donation of a mere few dollars. I often donate to these programmers as they deserve every cent of that donation if I often use their software and find it useful to me. If a program with similar features is sold by a publisher at a few hunderd dollars it don't find it strange that people argue that that is a rip off.

I have a conflicting point of view on this subject every time I get software that I didn’t pay for.

On the one side software developers and artists have spent countless hours of their lives developing and producing their products. And the majority of them earn their money by selling their product to consumers. By depriving them of that I feel guilty.

On the other hand, all that I am steeling is ones and zeros.

So those are my thoughts on piracy.
