ATI has definitely beaten INTEL to a bloody pulp, recently and it ain't over yet. Thier innovations like on-die memory controllers, RISC based architecture, larger L1 caches, x86 compatible 64 bit extensions, a more elegant X2 dual core and the like have definitely created a monster CPU family that simply clobbers INTEL between the eyes. Even AMD's power consumptions and leakage numbers beat INTEL definitively.

But, like I said, it ain't over yet. SONY, Toshiba & IBM are about to put thier 'CELL' technology to the test in gaming consoles like the X-Box 360 and look out. These bad boys can do 5Ghz+ and have 1 master core logic tied to 6 slave logic units. It kicks the snot out of anyhthing x86 based, even RISC versions. On top of that, they can be grouped together in multi-processor systems without a lot of 'glue' logic for a monster of truly Goliath proportions.

Look out AMD & INTEL, the silicone's gonna hit the fan. =)

Pentium 4 needs 5.2ghz to beat a FX55.Thats insane..lol That just show's me that AMD is so far ahead of intel in cpu tech.Seeesh it's Bad enough that a $800 cpu running at 3.8ghz at default cant beat or stick with a cpu that cost less($700) and is only running at 2.6ghz. And then to keep up it needs another 1.4 ghz and subzero cooling that add's another $700 to $1000 to the cost of the already costly beast. All the while the FX55 is just chugging along on Air Cooling and its nice and stable.Im sure that 5,2ghz even with the subzero temps isnt totally stable.

I've seen the xbit labs tests on it aswell and the 3.73EE got beaten by the 3.46EE in the quake benchmarks. wtf?

Don't the EE run on a 1066MHz FSB rather than the 800MHz FSB for the normal 600 series?

No, the 600 series is what also fuels the new EE, just look at the below article for some backgrounds, you'll see that the EE is not worth your money, never was actually.

some good reading, but you're comparing the near top of the line amd to the fastest mid-range intel. what kind of boost does a p4ee need to best the fx-55?
