http://lea.hamradio.si/~s51kq/DV-IN.HTM
With the info on this site I made a cable en used the free software to enable dv-in on my Sony TRV8E. You only have to use it once. Worked also on the same camcorder from a friend. The cable was easy to make en very cheap, about 6,- euro. The same cable costs about 60,- euro when bought commercially! When you're gonna use the software for altering the settings in the camera, be sure to use the right set of numbers for your cam. I had a wrong set the first time and it locked up my camera. That also made the camera act like there is no power, so how to set the right settings back! I found a trick that bypassed that problem (as long as you open/close the tapeholder, you can change the camera settings- so, haven a friend constantly opening en closing the tapeholder while you change the numbers to the right ones but it made me sweat!

Good luck

The DV-Out (to PC) works fine but the DV-In (from PC) is not avaliable to the European models. [Only US Models] That's why I'm searching a way to unlock the DV-In.

Dv should be enabled, as it is a digital camera. if your using DV cables they should come active when there pluged in- benifits of firewire is that its slightly faster and if you have not got USB2-
have you tried a video forum? or photography?
