You only have to use it once. Worked also on the same camcorder from a friend. The cable was easy to make en very cheap, about 6,- euro. The same cable costs about 60,- euro when bought commercially! When you're gonna use the software for altering the settings in the camera, be sure to use the right set of numbers for your cam. I had a wrong set the first time and it locked up my camera. That also made the camera act like there is no power, so how to set the right settings back!
