        <description>You only need one master card that supports crossfire.... the other board does not require it.</description>

        <description>I read in inquirer that to get 10% more (3d'05) than 6800 ultra you need to dongle two master ati crossfire cards. It makes sense, that way both units will force themselves to operate. Right now, 2 ultras' work as well as one (given sli mainboard). I noticed word: &amp;quot;controller&amp;quot; (2) mainboard units, one for each master, in article, I am sure thats key to higher performance here. Also older testing software (castle wolfstein), there was 60% improvement over sli 6800 ultra. older yet came in at 100% faster than nvidia. It figures even with ati slower mindset, by actually having two masters functioning all time in pci express 8x gives twice what one disquised as two can do. obviously more engineering needs be done to get up to pci express 16x, as tyan dual processor workstation has done with &amp;quot;true&amp;quot; pci express 16x. when will we get those stats? Or better yet, more mainboards on that idea chipseted for dual core. then finally maybe both cores, both processors,BOTH CONTROLLERS (master capable) ON-BOARD, both game cards (if crossfire masters') will be putting out maximum available today(don't forget 64 bit software,too).Remeber that performance numbers are usually estimates when first published, unsuspecting public often gets less than half of that without driver upgrades.Sometimes hardware dosn't even function properly.So wait for field testers (you &amp;amp; I) to give &amp;quot;battle&amp;quot; reports before jumping into anything radically new. Crossfire will be &amp;quot;retail&amp;quot; in one month.&lt;br /&gt;
