If you have the CD version of the game, make sure you have the "Play" CD in the drive to play. Otherwise, just put the DVD in.

my problem with GTA-SA is that after i have installed the game, i click on the icon on the desktop, the start menu, and even when i eject and reinsert the dvd...nothing happens. i just bought this game tonight in hopes to play it, because it is my favorite gta yet. i am running an amd turion 64 x2 with 2 gb ram, 160 gb hdd, nvidia geforce 7000m and dolby digital live sound cards, so i know this computer exceeds the optimal requirements. but why wont it launch?? i swear i hae never had this problem with any game on any of my previous systems. this game is vista compatible, says so on the box. can someone help me??????????????????????????€

Uninstall the Windows Security Update KB917422, then the game should work fine

Personal suspect.
Incompatibility between GTA San Andreas and MS Visual Studio 2005 Debugger.
You already tried all the standard stuff so all I can recommend is to contact Rockstar's support people:

http://www.rockstargames.com/support/req_support_detail.php?pr...mit=Submit

They're paid to make it work so they should be able to provide better answers than I ever could.

Yeah.
I tried looking in the event viewer but it says:
Application gta_sa.exe caused an error at address 0x0006ace6

This unfortunatly means nothing to me. Any clues?
