Some service providers recently have been doing a lot of upgrade work, usually at night. Might be contributing to the problem. Another is that someone/somebusiness on your node (depending on which type of connection you have) is doing a lot of up/downloading at night and impacting the overall connectivity.

Well as I said this problem is extremely common with D-link. You could try downloading the latest firmware if you haven't already. Aside from that it may be overheating so you could make sure to keep it cool if possible. Overall it really sounds like your router is the problem though and not your comp.

Resetting the router didn't work. I have the D-Link DI-524 Rev A. Any other ideas??

Thanks for all the inputs!

What brand/model router do you have? You may have a problem with your router rebooting which is extremely common with D-Link routers.

I have a very similar problem but i know what wrong. My phone line runs past a plug socket/double adaptor thingy in my dads room before it gets to my room, when anythings pluged in and running in the socket my modem only connects for 4-5 minutes before loosing the signal, i guess it must be EMI or somthing.

So just check your room, or anyroom your line passes through for anything similar which might effect it with EMI, but then again in might be something totaly different.

I cant remember who but someone else on HWA had the same problem with their christmas tree lights
I would guess that the router needs reset. Unplug the router from the AC outlet for a good 30 seconds. Then plug it back in. Hopefully that will reassign the IP's and fix your problem. (Make sure the ethernet cables are connected to the machines when you do this.)

My roommate hasn't told me if he's having the same problems so i'm guessing he doesn't as he asks me to fix anything that goes wrong. We should be able to have two computers online as Cox charges a few dollars more to have additional IP addresses for an account. And we are connected the way we should be. But today i had the problem even when i wasn't using eMule. It happened a few times within a span of 5 minutes. Usually when i don't run eMule I don't have a problem. And if i connect 'just' my computer to the Cable Modem i have no problems running eMule.

Does the same thing happen on your roomates system?

If it does, i would guess that your cable line was split many times.

I don't use DSL, I have Cox Cable. I have a cable going from the modem to the router and from the router me and my roommate have cables going to each other's machines.

I have the same thing, and i think its because we split the phone line the "dirty" way, to run it into to my room or it could be my crappy local DSL provider

I've been getting this weird internet connection problem. I have my internet connection notification on my task bar, and sometimes it shows me an error saying that the internet is not connected and a few seconds later it shows that the internet is connected. I'm wondering what could be causing this. This becomes very annoying when i run eMule as my connection gets disconnected and enabled every few minutes. But happens sometimes when I don't run eMule. Any ideas??

I have Windows XP Pro with SP 2 and all the other recent updates. I have Microsoft Antispyware running in the background which automatically scans my computer every night and have Adaware too but i haven't run adaware.
