I'll be getting CoD2 and F.E.A.R this XMas but as rightly said, there really isn't a need to upgrade to a 7800GTX or 1800XT (for me anyhow). My VPU will do fine for another year atleast
Well because of bugs (like here - see above - my blank message because of something wrong with logging on here) and a general feeling that PC games are rushed for Xmas, I do not buy any PC game released in November or December until the end of January when others on the web are saying "no bugs" or "patch released" type things.

Also I am a good shopper who knows that PC games get lowered in price after the "first bloom" and can be purchased for under £20 ($30) instead of £40 ($55). Because of this I expect to be able to buy a couple of good games that came out in the summer/autumn and be enjoying them over Xmas instead of having a 2GB piecet of hard drive space that is wasted until a 300MB+ patch comes out. While the programmers, designers and publishers of said title have a much much better Xmas than I will have, because of all the money they get paid to get all that money paid to their employer for said rushed title. Despite all the terrabytes of code sitting on 1,000's of PC's over Xmas waiting for said huge bug to be fixed because of that rushed release. PC gaming is the only business where you can get a quick couple million income to pay for a dozen hours of overtime to get the actual product working. Bit like the cost of sending out a fuse in an envelope with a first class stamp to make that £50 ($75) toaster work! (In other words in any other industry it would be absurd and/or illegal.)

So Xmas and PC gaming is a middle aged man in a grey suite saying "woe woe woe and a sorry Xmas to you all"!!!

And don't get me started on Easter!
