The Corsair Value Ram is good quality ram, get the 2x512MB kit of it, its great ram as long as your not overclocking. And you can always buy another 2x512MB kit of the same stuff later on for a total of 2GB, but 1GB will be fine for now.

This is some stuff ill recommend to you just off of my head, its good stuff:

Look for a MSI, Gigabyte, or DFI (maybe not DFI if your a n00b) motherboard with a socket 939, nForce 4 chipset, PCI-Express x16.

Get some DDR400 ram its usually the best value cause i assume your not overclocking anyway, either 2x512MB kit or a 2x1GB kit, because this will provide you with dual channel mermory support. Corsair would be my first choice, also take a look at OCZ.

Look for a 500W + PSU, i would recommend Antec or Enermax. There are other brands but many of them are either too loud, uneffecient, or unreliable, or underrated.

Look for a DVD burner thats 16X and supports Dual layer burning. NEC, Plextor, Pioneer i would recommend.
