A Question about disabling FastWrite in SmartGart

I'm having trouble with my computer locking up in Doom 3. I have the new Doom 3 patch (Retail v1.05 beta patch), the newest catalyst driver (Sept.2004), and have used DriverCleaner and reinstalled it which helped some. I have a Radeon 9600 and WinXP. 9.0c DirectX.
I disabled PCI write and AGP write under advanced SmartGart and now it would seem so far that my trouble with Doom 3 locking up my computer after 15 minutes has stopped though objects that move really fast in the game aren't rendered well.
I had read that turning Fast write off might help with this issue but I'm wondering seeing I don't have "fast write" per say, which one of these, PCI or AGP write, can I leave on or do I need to leave both off?
Thank you. -Nathan
P.S. I read something about disabling "write combining". I tried just that and re-enabled PCI and AGP write but the 'puter locked again after about 10 minutes into Doom 3. So my main question remains, do I need to disable both PCI and AGP write to accomplish what was suggested by "disabling Fast write" or just one of them and which one. ;P

AGP Texture Acceleration

I have a Radeon 9500 and Sis 730s motherboard.Whenever i enable Agp texture acceleration by installing the motherboard AGP driver, the system
crashes whenever i run a direct3d application.
So i have to unistall the motherboard AGP driver to make AGP texture Acceleration as unavailble.
The system runs fine without the AGP Texture acceleration, so i wanted to know how much is impact on the video performance if i dont enable AGP texture acceleration, i mean is it really required.

Also, the Asus probe shows a different Processor Temp than the BIOS Hardware monitor. THe BIOS hardware monitor also is jumpy, sometimes it jumps from 20C to 51C. Now it is on 51C, Probe never really goes above 41. Who do I trust?

No matter what I try I am still having the infinite loop issues with the Radeon 9800. Here is my system specs:

Asus A7N8X-Deluxe (BIOS NEW VERSION)
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
1GB PC3200 DDR (Set dual channel)
460W Enermax PS
ATI Radeon 9800 (Omega Drivers)

This is what I have tried.

-Regular ATI Drivers
-Disabled FastWrite
-Increased AGP voltage from 1.5V to 1.6V
-Underclocked system FSB
-Underclocked processor
-Tried windows 2000 and windows xp. (All service packs and updates)
-Checked MoBo and CPU temps
-Tried both ASUS A7V8X and A7N8X
-Disabled FSB Spectrum

While running Windows 2k I just get 2 pc speaker beeps and then the system freezes, no blue screens no error messages.

While running Windows XP, I get a "Windows has covered from a device driver error. The device atidiag...," accompanied by an Infinie loop problem in the error log. Anyone have any more ideas? If not, does anyone know of any motherboards that this Ininite Loop bug doest effect? I would like a really good nForce 2 mobo. I checked toms but Im not sure which of those suffer from the infinite loop problem.

Also, the AC in my building is kind of sketchy. Everything runs off of one circuit which is a 30ohm fuse. I do get alot of brown outs. The 460W powersupply does suckup a ton of power, do you think this may be the issue? But it doenst happen at all unless I have the Video Drivers installed for the 9800.

Easy Option is to Reformat system, after backing up Files, and writing down websites where u got some programs, oh maybe u should download the newest BIOS out but 1005 is good too.

This is only for the Advanced user, if ur afraid of doing it or dont know how to upgrade the BIOS or Reformat the harddrive take it to a friend that knows about that or take it to a PC repair shop and they will do it.

i have a 9800 pro and im having problems with smartgart (fast write) and an option in dxdiag called 'agp texture acceleration'...though they may not be related to one another..
in smartgart i cannot turn on fast write..no matter what, i hit on, restart, check settings, and its still off, agp 8x works though
in dxdiag in the display tab in agp texture acceleration mine says 'not available' and hell with a 9800 pro you'd think that it'd be available..? anyway i try turning on anti aliasing and it works , but when i turn on antistropic filtering..the textures don't look ANY sharper, even @ 16x..and i have good vision .. so i don't know what to do..i think the antistropic filtering and agp texture acceleration problem are related to each other but i simply don't know how to fix it...any help appreciaited..i'd also understand if i get no replies as this is going a little off topic

Here's a question, Smartgart shows I am running in 8X mode with fastwrites off but when I run any of the benchmarks (pcmark, 3dmark etc.) and look in the system info they show that my AGP is set to 4X...what's up with that?
