Check the driver to your network card and/or change network card to a different. As previous posted I bought a new one of a different manufacturer and that got rid of the problem. The only change I can think of that I made, was I moved my DSL modem/wireless router from my desk to a location that gave me better coverage, by replacing the ethernet cable with one that is about 15 feet long. After reinstalling different versions of Windows and almost buying a new graphics card out of frustration, I simply removed the network card from the computer, dusted the motherboard out, and rebooted a few times. I then put the network card back into a different slot and reinstalled its driver. I guess it got assigned a new IRQ number that doesn't conflict with any other device. The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen finally stopped tormenting me. But to be on the safe side, I also made a new CPU ventillator by sandwiching two old fans, one on top of the other, to lower the temperature a few degrees. As for the Blaster Worm variant, it's been coming and going for a few years now, every time I make the stupid mistake of going online without a firewall. It always affects the network devices in strange ways that cause my PCs to reboot. I never find it with a virus scan, but I think it somehow lingers in my LAN or hub memory, possibly altering the CMOS which remains buggy for a few days, even if the motherboard battery is removed. I learned the hard way to always have two hard drives in my PCs, one for Windows and one for my personal data. Notice how many people have had their hardware inspected or totally replaced, only to get the same BSOD errors? <br /> <br /> When I do a clean install of Windows, the PC is relatively stable. But after I go online to download new drivers, updates, and service packs, the system gets disturbed and begins to hang and reboot with the ugly blue screen. My firewall doesn't seem to help. I suspect some antivrus programs are partly responsible. The network worm actually uses them to hop right in. It's sort of a fail-safe situation. Before you can download new virus definitions, your machine starts to act up and finally shut down, appearing to have some obscure hardware problem. This is more likely to happen if you're adventurous and build your own computer instead of buying a new one off the shelf with pre-installed software. The OS monopoly is becoming one step forward, two steps back. And our entire scientific future suffers, instead of advancing. So I decided to post here in order to remind myself what to do...again! IRQL is a memory issue, and NDIS is the network device interface. So right off the bat, just check your memory and network card - which is probably in conflict with some other device driver. Re-seat your memory sticks into their slots and make sure dust hasn't entered the slots, etc. Do the same with your network card. It could probably be that a graphics, USB, or sound card are trying to access the same memory space as your network card. But focus your attention on the network device... I used to work in an internet cafe and I remember one day when about seven PCs started rebooting themselves all at once and displaying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL messages. So I was quite sure that it wasn't really a coincidental hardware failure. (Not your graphics card, dummy!) It was a Blaster Worm variant that attacks network devices. The problem is that you might not ever find it with a virus scan. It enters, attacks, and evaporates when you reboot - after screwing up your Page file Virtual memory Manager. Sometimes you will also see a pesky NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM alert that shuts down your PC again and again...<br /> <br /> Getting rid of it requires some fuzzy logic because it comes from your trusty Internet Provider. Disconnect from your network and experiment by moving your hardware devices to other slots and rebooting windows (a few hundered times). In the end, if all else fails, reinstall Windows. Sorry I said that. But that's what works, provided your hardware isn't damaged and you don't get re-infected the moment you connect once again to your area network. Firewalls should help but they really don't always. If you happen to fix or change NIC's and fixed it, that was a fluke.<br /> <br /> I've fixed hundreds of systems here so far with NDIS and nearly every single system was a different driver causing the problem.
