You better have a Dual Core, 3+ Gigs of ram, 120GB HD and a nice $400 high end video card if you want to play with Vista folks..... I just hope Microsoft will use its delay time to make it run hell a lot better than what it is now.. but knowing Microsoft it just get worse.....

Try a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, a 20 GB Partition on a 40 GB hard drive, and a Radeon 9600 XT. Because that's what I'm running Vista on. And I'm able to play Grand Theft Auto III just fine. With 1 GB of memory, I would bet money I could run Half-Life 2 even more smoothly than it does right now.

Meh I never had any trouble with Mac (I own one :p) I love it. Runs smooth, fast and great. Only Mac though that is worth the money is their laptops. Built extreamly well.

For about six months, I absolutely hated Macs (after some... "less than were promised" experiences). I've started to lighten up, but I'll always maintain: Anything you do on a Mac, you can do on a PC.

Only thing I can see that does need to the hardware is its 3D desktop but then again Sun Microsystem made a 3D desktop just like Windows WAY before Windows made their own and you only needed 128MB of ram and a 800MHZ processor to run it fine.. Theres really nothing in it that should make it need such high requirements.

You mean the one which, at the below link, says 1.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro? It would seem to me that Sun's version requires ever\-so-slightly more than Microsoft's as-yet-unreleased version of it. Then there's the entire fact that Sun has dangled the carrot in front of a bunch of people's faces, while Microsoft is working on a product which will be delivered.

https://lg3d-core.dev.java.net/lg3d-on-windows.html

Don't want to wait for Vista? No probs. Get SphereXP, it doesn't require anywhere near the system requirements, yet provides you with a nice interface.

http://www.spheresite.com/

Knock yourself out. Seriously, knock yourself out if you're tempted to post FUD.
But you do make a good point, every one did complain about every new release of Windows but this is just outrageous for its hardware it needs to run.... Only thing I can see that does need to the hardware is its 3D desktop but then again Sun Microsystem made a 3D desktop just like Windows WAY before Windows made their own and you only needed 128MB of ram and a 800MHZ processor to run it fine..
Why would anyone switch to mac? You got to be kidding.

Vista Beta 2 runs pretty good on my comp. Yes it uses a bit of ram tho, about 400mb + another 200mb page file on my comp. We'll see what happens with the final product though. Im acctually like Vista, seems nice to me. I would never switch to a Mac (i have had some bad expierences in the Apple Store in NY to say the least lol).

Iv used the betas of Vista since mid 2005 when they started to come out and all I have seen is features taken out, replaced with crap that I'll never use, upgrade its looks and need more and more system power. I have 2GB of ram on my rig and Vista eats its self (this is with nothing installed, no programs laucning, like a fresh install) 900MB of ram, idles out to 1GB of ram is eaten for the system its self -_-. I honesly could not believe it. On my processor I own a 3500+ AMD and my cpu always stays at 8% cpu usage on idling....... this is wrong just down right wrong. Its to a point that hardware today is crap for Vista. When XP shiped it needed 128MB of ram and a 300MHZ processor. It ran fine on a PC with a P3 800mhz and 256MB of ram but Vista on a high end system today runs so bad its to a point where you can't use it for every day stuff, just crap. Then with Vista DRM is just scary... Some versions of it wont allow you to play DVDs -_-. To have a fully functional Vista like XP today you will need to dish out like $600 for Windows Vista Unlimted just to watch a DVD, record a DVD, play an MP3 and extra -_-

Time to move to Linux and Mac folks...or keep XP and not run any new games that need DX10...
