Gosh! I would like to join you in your universe....

I have several machines running Vista SP1 including the laptop I am typing this on. (Vista Home Premium SP1 on a new Toshiba laptop - T2370, 2Gb)

The problems are significantly reduced since installing SP1, but still drive me bats. I have a reference system which I keep loaded with XP SP3 in 'exactly' the same configuration including software and browsing history.

Relative to Vista, XP runs flawlessly (not perfectly). A the moment I am trying to isolate a very annoying case of Vista deciding to 'pause' frequently in the middle of typing in browsers, word processing, even notepad. I'll sort it out eventually, but in the meantime my XP box just sits there thinking snide remarks about its Vista big brother.

Microsoft needs much more than Jerry Seinfield or a really hokey 'blind user experience' test (Mojave) to 'fix' Vista. Forcing people to Vista by dropping XP support only increases MS profits and their pool of beta testers.

The only thing standing in the way of gaming is driver support from nVidia and AMD/ATI. That is it. Once they release better drivers, games will run better.

Waiting six months is way too short for me, I'm waiting at least a full year before i even consider buying Vista, and then at that time i still may not make the purchase, especially if Microsoft hasn't gotten all, and i mean all the kinks out (well most of them lol). At present the comp that i built in 2004 is serving me very well, and it is Vista ready, I WANT NOTHING STANDING IN THE WAY OF MY GAMING. see below.
P4C800-E Deluxe Bios.1023
