Windows XP and Windows Vista are the same price even today.

Here let me show you.

Windows XP Home Edition $90:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116056
Windows Vista Home Basic $90:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116196

Windows XP Media Center Edition $115 shipped:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116049
Windows Vista Home Premium $112 shipped:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116202

Windows XP Professinal $139
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116059
Windows Vista Business $139
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116207

$30-40 for a sidebar? I dont think so.

Let me ask you this. If you were a corporation such as Microsoft or whatever, would you want to support old, out of date hardware? Wouldn't you like to have things advance? The old cant stick around forever. It eventually dies.

Uhm... yeah, sure. You could try emailing Microsoft direction, you know. They're not going to listen to this here on HWA.
Dear Microsoft(R) this is an official compliant to your product management and marketing people...

I see that the consumer has never been as inportant as the bottom line.

Q. How so You Might ask?

A. Well for starters I like most people today am a avid computer nut. There are things that I love to do on my computer like brows the web, keep up with the latest RSS feed, watch video, and play games... Yep the average computer nut...

Now I work 40 hours a week at a dead end job making 7.00 dollars per hour thats roughly $280 USD per 2 week period... Well that Sucks but I make ends meet.

Now factor in that I am a gamer my last PC cost me about $2300 that took me about 2 years to save up to get... I bought all the latest equipment and made it my dream machine I installed XP Pro... I paid about 300 dollars for... Or two weeks of slave labor with over time...

I figured it had a good lifetime of operation considering it had only just made SP2 and Win2k made it to SP4 before support was dropped.... Also consider the fact that Vista wasn't due for release for 6 Months and pricing was unknown...

Now I stand at the forefront of the release of DirectX 10 (XNA) powered games. My Computer is now about as good as crap because of the Vista Only restriction for DirectX10

2300 Dollars worth of computer equipment gone the way of the world because you have lost you vision (if you ever had it) and screwed a 97 percent market base of gamers like me...

I don't ask for much in this letter just a little backwards compatibility (witch is possible) and I don't care what salesman ploy you want to drop on it... Visualization was made in Vista to handle DX 9 why not in XP to handle DX 10...

Now I will close by saying this... The extras in Vista Ultimate are not a good enough eye candy to pay 5 hundred dollars of my Hard as hell earned cash.

Make A Gamer Edition of Vista That dosen't Have all that bull crap in it. To hell with aero to hell with all of the lookie feelly type gay crap. Who needs it. All I want from an os is the ability to to all of what has been said... If you want so much for me to buy into this over wroth spyware of an OS then make it so I can afford it... say $120USD and I would be happy...and keep all of the none useful crap to your self and those who want it...

500 x 1,000,000 People or 120 from 100,000,000,000 people do the math it adds up a whole lot faster...

P.S. Here is an Idea I just came up with it... sell your OS's as Build it yourself editions at a base cost like 80 dollars...

Then offer from inside the OS a Shortcut like you already have for the readyupgrade or what ever...

And offer separate installable pieces of the full Ultimate Version... Say someone wanted bitlocker They select it pay $40 Dollars for it they have it. or say if they wanted the vista sidebar they pay 30-40 dollars for it and wow they have it...

So in length you sell over 80 million copes in in month of Vista Build it Your Self Edition...

And in two months double your over all income just on the build it yourself apps...

And don't just limit it to the OS software do it for every piece of software you make (ie Word 2007 or Excel ...) It is not that hard to make an honest earned buck if you think about what you are doing...
