I figured the case out and replaced the power connection and it worked fine.

Thing is,

I changed PC and installed the latest driver. I was using tesco cartridges and it worked fine in XP but now on vista it doesn't work with the tesco cartridge (even a brand new one!)

Anyone know it this is HP playing 'use our catridge' nonsense again? If so, how does one go about stamping on the protection mechanism?

Did you get the disassemby figured out.?? It does come apart, but you will need a #10 torx driver.
Is anyone experiencing a phantom reset or something else like that??
If so what did you find??

I'm afraid I did not find the answer, the thing must be clicked together at manufacture never to come apart for repair.
I also wanted to check the intermittent usb socket.

did you ever work this out? because i am trying to dismantle mine to change the usb port, but it seems to use a magic 'open sesame' password as I can't find screws anywhere! lol
