Just installed the HD 3850 and finally able to play Crysis without stuttering / crashing every 5 mins!
Thank you ATI!!!! Nice piece of hardware for a good price.....

One strange thing though...I can't seem to run 3DMark 05...it just freezes and says it has to close. Shame, I'd like to see the score compared to my old 1950pro. The same happens when I try to run PCMark 05...not sure why as they used to work before installing the new card.
OK gee, a bunch of graphs from AMD. Great. Doesn't say much. How about a heads up against the 2900xt, 2600xt, the 8800GT 8800GTS and the 8600GTS. So ya here we go. Some REAL comparisons. Being an nVidia user I must say it does look like the 3850 does have some good bang for the buck. But as usual nobody seems to really have what you'ld call hard facts on any of the DX10 aspects of anybodys cards.

That can't be right at all.... because the 8800GT slams the 2600XT/2600pro. nah.... I think the 3870/50 is the replacement for the 2900XT and that ATI will need to come up with something faster above the 3870/50 to compete with the GTX/Ultra lines....
"The 3850, which should be less than $200USD when it is released later this month, completely slaughters the intended competition, which includes the HD 2600XT, and the NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS."

What's the point in beating a 8600gts?

Re: HD 3850 Preview w/ Game Results

from looking at this preliminary results.... it does look like the HD3870 is going to be the comparable card to the 8800GT being that it will be, or seems to be, about 95% of a 8800GT in performance. Now all they have to do is set the pricing for this card correctly. To do this, the 3870 needs to be lower in price by 10% than a 8800GT. Right now the 8800GT goes for around $290.00 all due to demand... (the original release pricing was supposed to be around 200~250.00). The 8800GT will most likely go down to that price range as soon as the newer HD3870 are released. But guess we will have to see.

From 3Dmark06 and Crysis, it looks like nVidia 8800GT is better than HD3870. However, there is one thing we need to tell you

We found ATi HD3870 is actually has better picture process while Crysis benching.

Specially the light refraction from water, HD3870 is very smooth but 8800GT is not. It is around frame 500 to 1000.

If you have chance, compare it. You will know what are we talking about.

The price for ATi HD3870 we are not sure yet, but it should be less than 8800GT.

Not only that, CF can do on P35, X38, 965, and 975 those motherboard as long as there are 2 PCI-E slot.

We'll.... there is one thing I need to tell him.....

If he had looked closer at the two pictures used for comparison..... the HD3870 does not look better than the 8800GT.... I am not saying that the HD3870 looks worse... what I am saying is that it looks "different".....

here is my reason: in Crysis DX10.... does it not supposed to do lighting, clouds, fog, and so forth better than DX9 ?????? Well.... when you look at the 8800GT's picture... I see high altitude cloud/fog/mist affect.... which in turn would affect the ground view of the greenery, water, sand, and so forth... The reason in the HD3870 picture "seems" clearer is because there is NO cloud/fog/mist affect in the way at that altitude to change the view at ground level..... DUHHHHHH..... Maybe the HD3870 could not reproduce this effect and hence it was missing from the scene????? So without the cloud/fog/mist effect being displayed.... then your scenery will be different....

And this statement "Not only that, CF can do on P35, X38, 965, and 975 those motherboard as long as there are 2 PCI-E slot" ---- which is stupid in itself... Well DUHHHHHHH we all know you can't (officially) run SLi in those chipset mentioned !!!! It be like saying - Not only that, SLi can do on nVidia's SLi chipsets, those motherboards as long as there are 2 PCI-E slot.... What is he trying to imply???? that you cant run a 8800GT on a P35/X38/965/975 in SLI mode?????? NO CRAP....

The other thing about the results of the graphs when it comes to displaying the CF results along with the HD3870/8800GT single card results..... what are they trying to do with the graph??? Make it look like the 3870 to be greater than it is???? why not display a 8800GT SLi along with the CF results too ???? It sure would make the CF results less pretty. Heck.... the 8800GT could have a greater scaling over the CF results...

If the results are anywhere true...(on a single card to single card comparison).... it is good that ATI is finally catching up. They have been missing from action for a very long time.
