I'm using WinXP Pro SP2 and I am constantly having to reset these autoplay settings.

I even go into the registry and set it so that nothing will autoplay upon insertion, and eventually a few days or a couple weeks later, something always screws it up and autoplay rears its very ugly head again.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of it, and it's one of the worst "features" Microsoft designed into the OS in my opinion.

edit to add-oh, yeah...I also know that as an alternative you can press and hold the 'shift' key as you insert the memory card, thumbdrive, the CD or DVD, etc., but....I have found that unreliable and a major pain in the tail.

Go to the Control Panel and click on Default Programs. Find where you can change the options for inserting a blank CD and select it to how you prefer it.

Try getting TweakUI Powertoys for Windows, that should allow you to set the Autoplay options.
I have tried to reset the Autoplay features, but not able to stop autoplay when inserting a blank cd. It goes straight to the burning program. How can i fix this?
