Just purchased the HD3870 X2 and it appears I'm having compatibility issues with the card and my mobo. The modo is an ASUS A8AE-LE [2005 version]. I am getting black screen on both monitors. I have a 700 watt PSU so power isn't the problem. I did notice that ATI provides a work around for problems with another ASUS mobo but it doesn't apply to mine. I've checked with HP and ATI. HP has no BIOS upgrade for the 1350n and ATI tells me to talk to my PC manufacturer. I did a check of my BIOS setting and notice that the VIDEO is set to PCI should it be set to PCIe.

So if anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime where is ATI/AMD with their support.

Nice pick up. That with rebates of any form or a sale? I haven't seen a HD3870 go for less than $230.99CDN normal pricing.

The beta drivers have a marked improvement it seems. Looks like this card will improve with drivers which is a good thing.Hardware Canucks has done well by overclocking the CPU and memory DDR3 overclocked. Maybe they should have used a X38 chipset or X48 chipset though.

Has anyone seen what 2x3870x2 can do?
I'd love to see those benched with Crysis, Call of Duty 4, World In Conflict and Unreal Tournament 3. Pretty monstrous stuff.

nah im serious, look at the benchmarks, the ati performs somewhat better in a few games, it definetly improved in call of Juarez, but except for that, its not that big of an improvement if u consider the fact that its a dual chip... when i heard my friends talkin about it i was expecting some major framerates, but that wasnt the case... take a look at graphs again, theoretically clock-for-clock, the gts is better...

i must say that im a little dissapointed over this card, i mean think about it.... this thing is a dual chip graphic card, and yet can only deliver like 10 more fps in some games, compared to a single chipped 8800gts.. i still say nvidia's the way to go, and not because im a fan boy, but i am startin to see towards that light, but because Amd needs to rethink the architecture in their cards, sure its 10.1 dx.. but lol, when will we see that technology be used to the full... im still stuck on Dx9....
and clock for clock, the nvidia still performs better if you compare it... the 3870x2 is like 800 something mhz, while the 8800gts 512 has like 650mhz (mine is oc and runs at 740), and still manages to keep up darn well...
now, either the drivers for the 3870x2 needs to mature, or there is a significant clock for clock loss on ati's side..
im not flaming, just putting it out the way i see it logically...
amds next gfx series is looking interesting though, that i might consider buyin...
