Most of the formats they make fail. Why? Well it isnt that it is a bad product.. beta, there music format etc. Its that sony shoots them selves in the foot every time. They wouldnt share there beta (which was better quality) nor there audio format (i forget the name). Thus we never see it around. They did share the cd though.<br /> <br /> Imo with blue ray, the only reason it is still around is that they keep pumping $ into the advertising and buying off companies to have them use it. Unless every studio goes on one side or the other, we could see a multi-format industry which would be great for competition and the consumers. Samsung and LG have dual format players out and both of them have just launched their second generation dual format players. But until there is a cheap dual format player or a clear winner, I got my trusty Pioneer 1080p upscaling DVD player.
