Offcourse I know how do you think i am posting on this site? It's not listed on their BIOS site. Most beta BIOSes are not posted. For example I am using 1504 which Sky Liu from ASUS Taiwan sent to me direct and it's not their website

You understand now?
Thank for all your help, im gonna tweak this thing more.
ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE OVERCLOCKING WITH A BOARD THATS MEANT TO BE GOOD AT OVERCLOCKING SHOULD UPDATE THE BIOS. IT WORKS
Or just ask the helpful guys here, thanks guys

You should update to the latest bios. Disabale Speedstep, SpreadSpectrum and the other utilities that underclock the cpu when in standby mode. Also try overclocking with your memory unlinked to the FSB.

My cpu's temps are core 1= 44 core 2=43 core 3=43 c ore 4=42 (degrees celcius)
the +12v is reading 11.77v in the bios, the +5v is 4.97v and the +3.3v is 3.23v. should this make a difference. What about that ram it is 1000mhz should i run it at 800 or 1000, mobo's default is 800.

Either give more juice to the cpu (play up to 1.5V... but at 1.5 you should be able to pull 3.6ghz out of that 6600) or check if it's not overheating.
Remember, there is no identical overclock, so your personal settings are achieved by trial and error.
As for the ram, it should do just fine at 5-5-5-12 at 2.4V. Even 850mhz 4-4-4-4 at 2.0V, but you will experiment upon the system boot

I can get the clock 1333 or 333mhz*9. it shows 3ghz, i changed the ram voltage to 2.4v and it went past the boot problem and started booting but when it was nearly finished it restarted. i then tried changing the ram voltage to 2.425 same thing happens, then changed it to 2.450 and nothing, i thin the timings are affecting this, it seems stable at 6 6 6 20, but still, cpu core voltage is 1.2875v, anyone got any ideas,
the ram is pc8500 ocz platinum 1000mhz running unlinked with the cpu @ a frequency of 800mhz, im confused nearly boots, i seem to be almost there but further tweking is required,
I used to have striker extreme with E6600 and were able to boot at 3.5GHz no probs...
http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/8356/md10704338me6.jpg

What kind of cooling do you have?
And remember, since Q6600 doesn't have an unlocked multipler, you will have to be running higher FSB. Higher FSB means taht voltages throughout the system have to be increased - especially NB.

I managed to get the cpu overclocked to 3ghz using 1333mhz fsb or 9*333 and i disbaled all spread spectrum controls as well as set the timings for the ram to 5-5-5-15-2
the cpu vcore to 1.350v, 1.2vht to 1.55v, cpu vtt to 1.55v, North chipset 1.55v ,south chipset 1.55v, ddr to 2.1v. These settings which i tried which were used by a guy on the net enable my machine to boot a 3ghz, Then before booting into to vista i pick a boot method i just start windows normally a blank black screen and then it restarts, it is still unstable i tried loads of voltage settings, the ones i find which make most difference are the chipset voltages. too high fail to boot to low fail to boot. Does anyone know what i could do?

I recently bought an intel core 2 quad q6600 with an asus striker extreme motherboard,
The problem i have is that i want to gt the q6600 to 3ghz but when i try to overclock it to a fsb of 1333mhz or 333mhz*9 cpu multiplier the system wont boot up. i have tried to change the voltages but its not stable, The in built utility in the striker extreme will allow it to be overclocked by up to 20%, The only setting that works for me is a 15% overclock but i want to manually set it to 3ghz, Does anyone have this mobo or can you guys give me some advice? Thanks
by the way the cpu has the G0 stepping, im using a thermaltake toughpower 750watt modular, 4gb ddr2 pc8000 1000mhz ocz platinum, nvidia 8800ultra and an akasa evo cpu coooler.
