Seen some other forums, including TechPowerUp, do it, so I thought it's better then nothing. It also shows that you did take the picture, and it's not some random picture you found on the internet. The handwriting is because it is harder to Photoshop hand writing into the picture.

If you got a better idea, then please let me know.

This combined with a reputable Heatwave account, could be quite a good verification for potential buyers.

Is it just me, or does requiring a "hand written sign" seem like a stupid anti-fraud technique?

Firstly, while it might assure somebody that one owns the item in question (ie. how do I know you didnt just stick that sign next to your buddies Xbox360?), it doesn't really say anything about your willingness to not screw me over by not sending it anyway.

Second, hand-written? What's the point of that?

The whole idea sounds like it was thought up by a sixth-grader.

I added an example picture to the original post to show what a picture should look like and how to include your user name in it. I simply used an index card, folded in half, and then I hand wrote my name on it. Basically, you have to include your hand written name on some sort of paper in the picture of the item. I have seen other forums do this in their market forums as well, and it seems to work well.

It would also be a better idea for people to stay AWAY from Market forums who don't intend to purchase goods. No thread "Crapping" and no "low-balling". Some people may just ruin it, hence for the sake of peaceful trade, it is necessary for those people to keep quiet and out of Market forums.

What you guys need to do is have each individual that is selling whatever it is that they are seling, take a picture with their name written on a piece of paper and the forum name that they are selling it on so that way there is less of a chance of someone getting screwed over. Have them upload it to imageshack or something and post a direct link here since this site doesnt have normal forum codes.

Each buy/seller should have their own heatware account also. (http://www.heatware.com) so that way they can provide feedback to tell others how their previous history buying/selling/trading was.

Intro to the Marketplace
First off, the "Marketplace" forum topic is for posting about items you have for sale or for trade, any other posts in this forum will be deleted. This post serves as a guideline to what to post in this topic and also what not to post.

Required for posting on the Marketplace:
1. Put [For Sale] in front of the item's name as the subject of the thread. If you are accepting trades you may put [For Trade]. If both, then use [For Sale/Trade].
example: [For Sale] Xbox 360 Elite

2. At least one picture (more highly recommended) of the item with your HWA username written by hand on a piece of paper next to the item This is to ensure that you personally took the picture of your item and it is not just some random picture you found on the internet. Also it lets the buyer know exactly what the actual item looks like.
example: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a228/waterdrop006/random/example.jpg

3. The country/region that the item is located
example: United States

4. The manufacturer, model, version, edition etc. of the item. Date of Manufacturer is recommended. Also mention what is included, if anything.
example: Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite (Late 2007), 120GB HDD, 2x Wireless controllers, 1x Headset

5. Describe the condition of the item
example: Good condition, some cosmetic problems, faulty optical drive.

6. Price you are looking to get. If you would rather wait and see what people offer, then please state that in your thread.
example: $250 US
alternative example: Best Offer

Also please make a post once the item is sold or if you are no longer selling the item. Editing the original post to mention that it is sold or no longer for sale is recommended. You may use the [Sold] tag in the subject line to denote the fact that your item(s) has sold.

Any posts selling items that are illegal will be deleted and the user will be banned. Any thread posted in the Marketplace that is not in accordance with the rules above, will be deleted.

Legal Stuff
The buyer (and seller) must assume responsibility for all potential risks. Hardware Analysis is not responsible for keeping track of sales, shipping, or payments of items posted in this forum topic. Buy, sell and trade at your own risk!

By posting in the "Marketplace" forums you agree to these terms and the other terms and policies of Hardware Analysis. Also note that these rules may be modified/changed at any time.

Questions?
If you got any questions about the marketplace, feel free to send me an email, an Xfire message, or a Private Message.

Good luck selling, trading, and buying!
