I must say I'm rather pleased with this chip, here's the difference in power.

http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/1883/powersavexn3.jpg

I'm now able to force it to the 18 watt TDP it's rated at with cool & quiet kicked in with a button on my keyboard. =)

lol. The main reason why it took me so long to get this build together was me waiting for the CPU to hit Newegg so it would do this kind of thing, otherwise I would have gotten the regular chip for about $30 less and been done with it.

Hmm, my computer didn't seem to like that too much, lol. I did a quick google search for powercfg just now though and found this

http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/1d58b934...x?mfr=true

Good stuff.
Looks like the power settings are stored in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg

Try backing that key up with both settings, and then reapplying one or the other to go back and forth.

Eh, well for example, before I step away from my computer it would be nice to switch my comp to power saver (as I hate setting it to "sleep" because I usually have files transferring) to make my CPU stay at a lower speed versus the activity of utorrent/background processes messing with the auto settings (as it likes to jump around, CPU-Z proves this). I can manually do it with the Power Options window but a shortcut key would be much less annoying.

Is anyone aware of this? Ex. Change from "Power Saver" to "Balanced"? Maybe a command line that I could run as a batch file with a shortcut key?
