Well there are cheaper and very good alternatives to the Asus one, although don't be fooled by the price, the 750i boards are champs at overclocking and have many great features. I would love to exchange my 680i that has 3 pci express slot, yes 3! for a 750i board. It sounded fancy to have 3 pci express slots but I later realized that it's an exaggeration, since I don't have have 2 video cards yet.

Well back to question, are you planning to use Windows XP or Vista? I still use XP and it rocks every game as stable as possible.

You know you can have an even cheaper Pc and still be a kick ass performer, just for the heck of it I'll list some components.

It all comes to $755.93 dollars, that is of course without the case, OS and shipping but if you'd like you can take off the sound card since it's not an obligation to have, although it gives you a definite sound quality boost over integrated audio in the games.

I can even make it cheaper and still be an excellent performer if you desire.

yea srry bout the delay in the reply but i understand what you are talking bout Chronic, just when i looked at the specs for AC it didnt specify that it must be a newer model video card... i have a slow ass radeon i believe dont remember i installed it last year but the computer in general is slow as hell its an everex energy saving computer. that says alot lol it was also like 300 bucks (which is less than my monitor at 420$) but im prob not going to have enough money for this for a while...say a couple of months, i quit my job and havnt had one for about a year... cant find anyone looking for jobs and even when i do they dont accept me so give me about 4 months and ill update you guys i guess...but if i coujld swap out that asus MB, and still keep the other stuff and a possible upgrade to video card that would be great thanx.

just please remember that when it comes to gaming the video card is the most important factor to consider. it goes video card 1st, cpu 2nd and ram 3rd.

i work for GAME. we get so many pc games returned to our store because people think that if they have windows xp or vista that every game should run just fine. when you ask them their specs they haven't got a clue.

also don't go by the amount of memory the video card has. we get loads of customers saying that their 512mb card won't run crysis properly. only to find out they have a 6800 512mb or something old like that. go by the gpu model it is, like the best at the mo is most likely the 8800 series. i know theres the 9800 out now but there only slightly faster and not worth the money. also please remember there is a big difference between, say like a 7800 gt and a 8800 gt. i've had some people coming in boasting about their computers and how their only two generations down from a top of the line card. i say two generations!!! thats like ps1 to ps3, and watch their faces drop.

you'll know this anyway. i just had to say it, dumb customers driving me nuts :o" title=">:o"> . i must admit though some specs when it comes to games aren't really very clear. espcially cpu speeds as there clocked slower now to say like the p4, but are actually a lot quicker. getting someone to understand that is quite hard.

Oh, you mean a different motherboard than that Asus I linked? I thought you meant replacing your existing motherboard with a new one (like the Asus).

Perhaps. What motherboard do you have? If you don't know/can't tell, download CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com and it should be able to tell you make/model of the motherboard.

Do you have a copy of Windows XP or Vista? If you don't, you'll need to get it.

RAID uses multiple hard drives for better performance and/or data redundancy. It really isn't needed in your situation, I was just wondering for the sake of hard drive controllers.

Here is a review of the requirements compared to what I spec'd above. I bolded my comments:

Minimum Configuration:
RAM: 1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista I listed 4 GB

Video Card: 256 MB DirectX� 10.0�compliant video card or DirectX 9.0�compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (see supported list) 9800 GTX has 512 MB, is DX 9 and 10 compliant, has Shader Model 4.0 support

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0�compliant sound card integrated...it should work but if it doesn't, you could stick in a cheap audio card

DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive I didn't list but if you have one, it should work...they are about $30-35 otherwise

Recommended & Preferred Configuration:
Processor: Intel Core� 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better I listed Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz and a newer model at that so clock for clock, it's faster

Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
NVIDIA GeForce� 6800*/7/8/9 series The card is "9 series"

i do have a case, that i got from Newegg like 1 year ago. and i have a 320Gb harddrive and about 4-6 optical drives, now with all the parts that put down on the list does that meet reccomendations or is that better than what i need? and what is raid?

for the processor i prefer intel and video card i would say either Nvidia or Ati...doesnt matter to me just it should have above 256 and possibly a 512mb card
