One of those is that you don't want to spend any more money. <br /> <br /> It might help if you would describe specifics about your topology, including identifying all the devices involved, ports available, etc.<br /> <br /> In some cases I've read (but have not confirmed) the printer itself will have the ability to connect to both an ethernet and USB port. You might be able to keep the enet port to your first group, and connect the USB port to one of the devices in your second group. Then use that device as a print server for the other devices in that group. That approach, if possible, would negate the need for VLAN implementation.<br /> <br /> I don't know how the printer handles print management in that type of scenario. Why do you need a router for the smaller network? you can use a switch and just increase the subnet. That's a much easier and neater solution.<br /> 2. The server is connected to a gigabit switch, the switch then connects to a gigabit router. and the router to the web.<br /> <br /> Everything works fine at that level. But, connected to the router, i have a second router, that gives internet to other crappy devices in my home.<br /> <br /> But connected to the second router, i have a computer to which i want and need to add this printer i have been using in the other network. So here i am, trying to add this network printer in windows xp. and i don't in what format to tell it to add it, all i have is the ip of the server in the network one level up from this one. 192.168.10.1<br /> <br /> any help will be greatly appreciated.
