I've found Windows is generally pretty damn stupid when it comes to recovery actions, often just deleting things it doesn't understand in order to &quot;fix&quot; the operating system. The system may work afterwards, but sometimes applications, individual application settings and logs, and personal data are deleted in the process.<br /> <br /> Also, I would hope you keep regular backups and could simply load an X day-old version if needed. If you don't keep backups, then when you have this problem fixed, I recommend you start doing so. An excellent <b>freeware</b> backup program is DriveImageXML.
