You remove 2 to 4 self tapping screws, you take out the old fan, you place the new fan and screw in 2 to 4 self tapping screws.

Thats all that is necessary.

Convincing tech support that all you need is the fan is the hard part. The replacement is less than 30 minutes.
One thing to consider...are you absolutely certain you have to have that fan working? If your temps are ok without it, then just disonnect* and know that you can always do the repair later if your temps start climbing to unacceptable levels.

That case has such major cooling already, the 200mm seems over the top unless you've just jam-packed the system with high-power components and are OCing. Your configuration doesn't look like it's anywhere near that point.

*Or, you remove the fan, leave the grill, and have a large unobstructed vent on the top of the case.

Damn it, but i really really REALLY do not want to get onto tech support about this problem, and be on the phone to them for hours racking up charges over a very big fan. Can i change it myself d'ya reckon? It seems daunting just looking at the size of it, but it's just a fan right? I've changed fans before...small ones. Thing is the wires from the fan go through the chassis, and if i did it, it would almost certainly be very messy, (my wiring in general is consistent with my "can't be bothered attitude").

The fan is only what, 12 quid or something?

Anyway cheers for identifying the problem guys. Thanks.

Nathan Hunt said:
...So if the voltage is 12v, and the connected molex can do 12v, how come it isn't spinning? Maybe i have it on high setting, which apparently uses 13.2v, and that molex connector can't provide that or something.

That's not the problem.

The spec shows the minimum and maximum +12V line value which will guarantee the 3-speed functionality works without damaging the fan. In other words, your +12V line from the PSU is well within that range, and it should work just fine.

If you have VERIFIED that +12 is available on the connector from the PSU, then somethin's broke: wiring, switch, connector, or circuit board inside the fan (yup...computer fans got circuit boards inside 'em)

Bad fan....
Very bad fan...
If spanking it doesn't help, then you need to RMA.
If it came with the case, you may need to talk to tech support for about 5-6 hours in order to get just the fan vs. the entire chassis/case, but you should be able to do so.
I hoping your not going to say 350 watt single rail 12.3amp PSU. cuze that would be funny..
BTW red is 5v and yellow is 12v
does the fan move smoothly? if it dont spin it both ways for a while then turn it on a see if that makes it work. I can see faults would be possible in the fan switches

Haha, nah my psu was expensive, well at the time anyway, bought it about a year ago. Seems to be fine running this beefy set up. The PSU model is:

Coolermaster RS-550-ACLY Real Power Pro

Model RS-550-ACAA-A1
Type ATX Form Factor 12V V2.3 / SSI Standard EPS 12V V2.91
Dimension (W / H / D) Standard ATX 150 x 140 x 86 mm
Input Voltage 90~264V (Auto Range)
Hold Up Time >17ms
Efficiency 83%(110W) / 84%(275W) / 81%(550W)
MTBF >100,000 hrs
Max. Output Capacity 660 Watts
Operation Temperature 0~40℃

Hope that helps guys. I've tried all switch positions, still not working

The standard 4-pin molex power connectors provide a +12V lead, a +5V lead, and 2 ground/earth leads. (althought sum cheaps bastiches don't install the 2nd ground wire.)

By selective wiring or by using a specific switch, a fan can be wired to this connector to obtain either +5, +12, or even +7V. The +7V is obtained by special use of the +12V and +5. I sometimes do this to quiet down a fan that is too noisy running at 12V, and too slow at +5V.

+5V alone sometimes insufficient to spin a +12V fan of modern design.
Have you tried giving the 200mm fan a flick to get it turning? If you have and it still doesn't turn check your connection, you may be trying to run it from a 5v vs a 12v source.
Try a different connection.
I'm assuming when you say that they are 4 pin connectors that you are refering to the large "molex" style of connectors? Or are you trying to connect them to the MB which usually uses 3 pin (or 4 pin with a RPM monitoring pin)?
Gerritt

Yes, i've tried flicking the fan to see if it turns, and obviously i can move it around but it doesn't keep spinning, and yeah they're molex connectors coming straight off the power supply, sorry if i wasn't clear enough on that.

Whats this different voltage thing then? What voltage are normal molex connectors? Are they 5 volts?
Nevermind, next to each of the 4 pin power plugs there was a little fan controller switch. I turned all of them on, and they all started apart from the top one. Which struggled to spin and then stopped. It's a gigantic 200mm fan, any ideas why it isn't working? Not enough power or something?
